Customs Advice & Guidance 

Since Britian left the EU on 1st January 2021, formalities involved with moving to France have changed. Please get in touch with a member of our staff to talk through the customs requirements and procedure for both removals to and from France. 

Removal from the UK to France 

If you are moving goods from the UK to France, you'll need to provide the following for a duty-free import: 

  • UK utility bill priving you have been a UK resident for a specific period of time 
  • A copy of your passport 
  • Proof of your address in France 
  • Complete a French Customs form to declare the goods you are importing have been owned by yourself for 6 months or longer 
  • A deatiled inventory of the goods your are moving, including a total value, No of packages and the estimated weight 

Any goods brought new/owned for less than 6 months are subject to import duty charges. 

 

If you are moving goods from France to the UK, you'll need to provide the following for a duty-free import: 

  • An approved ToR application - this is to show you are transferring your residency from France to the UK
  • A copy of your passport 
  • A deatiled inventory of the goods your are moving, including a total value, No of packages and the estimated weight 

If you are moving goods from a second/holiday home and cannot provide the above, you'll be required to pay import duty.
